8 Popular skins that crash Windowblinds 5.01

I've trying to upgrade to Windowblinds 5 lately, but the process has been difficult, to say the least.

One thing that I've found is that these 8 skins in my collection all crash WB 5 immediately when you try to load the skin. The skin never even gets loaded, just clicking on it once (to see the preview) causes WB5 to crash.

Apogee
Colony
DinksDX Blue
G-Pod
MetalX2
SexPistons
What is the Matrix?

Lots of other skins, such as Analyze, GT2, Interceptor, and Cast Iron work fine.

I have WB 5.01 build 64, cleanly installed through SDC after removing all traces of WB4, and a couple of reboots.

If anyone else can confirm or deny these same problems, or shed any light on the issue, I'd really appreciate hearing about it.

I've tried deleting the *****.uis_BLOCK.WB4 for those skins and letting it be recreated, but same result. Also same result with deleting the skin and downloading it fresh. WB4 had no problems with these skins whatsoever...

Perhaps I'm misinformed, but I was under the impression that WB5 supported more skins than WB4. I had not heard about any skins being rendered unusable with WB5.

They work fine for me but I have not updated to the newest version they posted the other day yet.

Hi Will Rose,
I have the latest non-beta WB release. I haven't downloaded the others, but Sex Pistons works fine for me. I should mention that I never had WB 4 installed though.

Yeah, I tried them all and they all crash. Well except Matrix and Dinks because I don't have them. I also have the latest version and I also did a clean install!!!

The problem is with the very latest beta release of WB. Rolling back to the non beta release (disable show betas in SDC) of 5.01 should resolve this problem.

Once we have fixed this we will update the beta build on OD with a newer one.

^^This fixed the FauxS-Toon WB. It broke when I downloaded the beta.^^

Thanks Neil... I downgraded and that fixed the problem.

For other readers, 5.01 build 62, dated 3/29/06, is the good one.

With my system the newest beta was causing explorer to repeatedly crash restart about every 10 seconds. I was using iFlex windowblinds skin but I also tried a skin converted from a VS and it did the same thing.

Please try WB 5.01b to see if that helps.
